Welcome to RIE-SWO!
Welcome to the RIE-SWO (Resilience Information Exchange - Southwestern Ontario) chapter's internet home page! I say RIE-SWO because we are in the midst of a name change from DRIE-SWO to RIE-SWO which we hope to complete later this month (September).
Are you in one of the following roles in your organization: Business Continuity Manager/Planner? Emergency Response Manager? Crisis Management Program Coordinator? Records Officer? IT DR or Cyber Specialist or perhaps someone who works in a related "preparedness" field? Do you live, work or travel within South Western Ontario? Then, I feel you would benefit from joining our RIE-SWO chapter and accessing the many benefits this membership provides.
RIE organizations are member-based, not-for-profit associations of practitioners and others involved or interested in business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, contingency planning and related preparedness fields. There are RIE chapters all across Canada and in Australia.
RIE chapters exist to promote professionalism in the above disciplines and to facilitate the member-to-member exchange of ideas and information. At RIE-SWO, we normally hold a full day symposium twice a year, in the spring and fall. These events feature (1) presentations by industry experts on contemporary topics in the preparedness field, (2) opportunities for networking and (3) access to vendors and services providers, all without that "sales pitch" you dread.
Our chapter is guided by a volunteer executive, has a voting membership and provides various services (see the "About Us" tab on this site). Membership fees may be tax deductible as dues to a professional association if you pay them rather than your employer.
I hope to see you at our next symposium or hear you on one of our webinars.
Yours in resilience,
Mike Fiorino
President,
RIE-SWO Chapter
